How To: Accomplish Your Year End Goals
As with anything in life, whenever possible, it is always better to be proactive and prepared than reactive and chasing your tail. We are nearing the end of 2016 and many of our members have written goals on our member whiteboard which they wanted to achieve by the end of the year.
It is great to see so many of these goals checked off, but there are still a lot left up there. With 30 days left it’s time to start prioritizing the things that are important to you. Many of these goals are big increases in max strength that often take a decent amount time to achieve. While many of our members are on the right track to reach their numbers when we test at the end of this strength phase, it is not too late to make a big dent in those maxes.
For the skill-oriented goals like increasing max number of doubleunders, pull-ups, or muscle-ups and even being able to perform a strict pull-up or push-up 30 days can be just enough time to tick that box.
During these last few weeks you can:
– Set a target for gym attendance and stick to it
– Arrive early for class and practice your skills
– Stay after class and get a few extra reps in
– Focus on core strength as that is often the limiting factor in heavy lifts
– Set time aside in the morning and evening to work on joint mobility
As coaches, we are here to help you accomplish your goals and are always willing and able to push you. In the past, we have set up individual programs and even given additional instruction in complex gymnastic or olympic movements to help our members.
Don’t let December just be the last month in the year. Make it productive and build some momentum going into 2017.
